Projects

The money raised by FoSMPS goes toward funding many activities; from short term spend to long term capital projects. All of these activities enrich the lives of our children at St Matthew's.

So far in 2025, FoSMPS has funded £7,800 towards school projects enhancing learning and experiences for our children

Here are some examples of how FoSMPS contribute through both one-off project donations and regular annual support.

Each of these has played an important role in improving facilities, resources, and opportunities across the school.

Outdoor learning

FoSMPS funded the forest school shelter for the school meadow. The shelter protects from the rain and sun during Forest School sessions and outdoor lessons. Funding is provided annually for OPAL consumable resources from cones to balls and tent covers.

FoSMPS also funded Waterproofs for all year groups to allow outdoor learning whatever the weather.

Classroom floats

Each year we support the class teachers with a class float allowing them to pay for small rewards, materials and stickers.

Year 6 events

FoSMPS contribute to a party to give our Year 6 leavers a memorable night before they leave the school, and a Pizza night to celebrate the end of SATs.

Cooking room resources

FoSMPS provided baking trays, aprons, cupcake holders and many other kitchen items for the 'Let's Get Cooking' space.

Trips

FoSMPs have supported the school with donations to different trips and events to help make the costs to families as minimal as possible.

KS2 Stationery Items

FoSMPS was delighted to offer vouchers to families who needed a little extra support, helping them purchase stationery so that every student could begin the year ready and equipped for success.

Relax Kids

The school recognises the need to help our children thrive in today's world. Relax kids was 100% funded by FoSMPS so that everyone who wanted to, could attend

Chrome books

FoSMPS previously funded 50 Chromebooks to help children learn remotely. These are now used in school to support classroom learning.

OPAL resources shed

In 2022, a new building for the storage of OPAL resources was funded to allow easy access for the children to choose play items.

Sandpit sand

In 2022, FoSMPS funded sand and provided volunteers to move it into the wonderful sandpit, which is part of the OPAL (Outdoor Play and Learning) initiative.

Ice lollies

Sometimes the small things make a difference.

Every Year, FoSMPs fund ice lollies for every pupil, as an after-event refreshment on Sports Day.

Library books

FoSMPS has previously funded over £600 of books for the school library, whilst involving children in a reading challenge.

Pantomime

Every year, FoSMPS fund the opportunity to watch a pantomime performance for all year groups.
